Welcome Bottega Veneta to Détroit - A Visual Story

In the fall of 2021, Bottega Veneta brought its Spring 2022 fashion show to Detroit. Weeks before the show, I took it upon myself, as a native Detroiter, to welcome the storied fashion house to our city by sharing images that I felt captured the essence and heartbeat of this urban center.

I curated more than 60 photographs of Detroit, had the images printed, and created an exquisitely packaged presentation using Bottega Veneta's signature grassy green. I also created accompanying artwork, writing, postcards, and presentation materials, developing the project as a cohesive expression of place, culture, and creative perspective. The completed work was sent directly to Milan, Italy, to the attention of Daniel Lee, Bottega Veneta's Creative Director at the time.

The self-initiated project was met with great appreciation. Daniel Lee told me, “This is the best gift I've ever received.” He subsequently extended an invitation for me to attend the show as his personal guest, where I was seated in the front row.
